My Exact Supplement Plan for Immunity + Healing

When dealing with cancer, your physical body goes through a lot.

It’s fighting off the cancer – so it’s “all hands on deck” for your good cells.

Powerful medications drain your body of essential minerals and nutrients while working.

Your appetite may be waning, and it’s harder to get the necessary nutrition.

Overall, your immune system is likely dealing with deficiencies. Getting sick during treatment may pause your plan – you must stay healthy. Weak immunity may also be linked to cancer – so keep your system up even after you’re in remission.

One way you can work to support and rebuild your body’s defenses is through supplements, when food alone is not enough. There are so many supplements and conflicting opinions out there, but I’m sharing what has worked for me and the survivors I work with, in addition to a restricted diet and exercise plan (read more here).

I built this plan based on work with an Integrative Specialist and a wide variety of lab work that has measured deficiencies in my blood. I highly recommend going in for not just routine bloodwork, but the “extra mile” tests. Request in-depth labs that measure your mineral levels, things like mold, dormant viruses, and more. It is critical for painting a whole picture of what needs an extra boost in your body. Now is the time to get your body aligned and back on track!

Most importantly: you must discuss any supplements you plan on taking with your medical team before taking them to ensure it does not interfere with treatment. Some supplements are best after your treatment period has ended.

Here are some of my favorites:

Elissa Goodman’s resources on building immunity are great. Read Elissa’s Immunity Essentials for how to incorporate easy, powerful immunity-building habits in to your everyday routine. Some highlights that are safe for just about everyone:

  • Zinc: An antiviral and immune builder, zinc protects the thyroid from inflammation and toxins. It activates the production of white blood cells to heal wounds and speed up recovery.
  • Turmeric: Turmeric — and especially its most active compound, curcumin — is a potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. We include our favorite curcumin in our cancer kits.
  • Vitamin D & K2: Vitamin D can help the body fight infections, reduce inflammation, and reduce cancer cells, among its more common function of contributing to bone health. K2 carries many of the same benefits that vitamin D offers, and similarly, many of us are deficient. When taken together, these nutrients offer much more significant benefits to your immune system and bones compared to when either is taken alone.
  • Vitamin C: vitamin C is involved in so many immune processes. It aids our bodies in collagen production, iron absorption, white blood cell production; it’s an antioxidant, and so much more.
  • Probiotics: Our immune cells communicate with our gut bacteria, making probiotics a vital part of our diet. Although there are foods that contain naturally occurring probiotics, I like to take probiotics in a supplement form for added diversity.

I joke that it takes a lot of pills to keep me healthy! I use my favorite pill container to organize everything for the week so I don’t have to think about it. It comes with me to every meal.

It takes a lot of sticking to it, but you will begin to feel better and take active steps to protecting yourself as best you can.
